Glenia Mullins of Cardington went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Glenia was born August 12, 1932 in Wolfpit Kentucky to the late Joe and Amie Coleman. She was lovingly known as "Nanny" by most.
Nanny was the oldest of nine kids, and a natural care taker. She would mother anyone who would let her. Through the years all her siblings lived with Nanny and Ken at one time or another. You never went to visit Nanny that you were not offered something to eat or drink. Nanny loved to cook, especially for her family. Family was everything to Nanny. She especially loved having everyone gathered in for a visit.
She left the state of Kentucky for the first time when she married Kenneth Mullins on October 9, 1954. Together they moved to Ohio and started a family. On March 31, 1959 their pride and joy, Debra Sue Mullins, was born. Debbie married her high school sweetheart, Garry Newsome in 1977. Nanny and Ken loved Garry and considered him their son.
In 1981, Nanny became Mamaw Nanny. Her grandsons were her prize possession. Brian and Keith knew they were loved by her. Nanny also viewed their wives, Casie and Morgan, as her own granddaughters. Nanny had 6 great grandchildren who she also adored. They will never eat ice cream without thinking of their precious memories with her. Nanny left a legacy for her grandkids and great grandkids that will be hard to match. The love Nanny showed to them was a true blessing that they will always cherish.
Nanny was a proud member of the Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church in Marengo. She loved the Lord which was evident in the way she served her church family and all who were around her.
Nanny is survived by her daughter, Debra (Garry) Newsome of Cardington, grandsons, Brian (Casie) Newsome of Marengo, Keith (Morgan) Newsome of Cardington. 6 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lane, Branson, Cole, Braelyn, and Kenton. 2 sisters, Floetta Coleman of Newport,Tn , Patricia (Nolan) Coleman of Cardington, Ohio. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Larry (Sue) Coleman of Powell, TN, Leonard Coleman of Hazard, KY, and brother-in-law JR Newsom of Cardington, OH.
Nanny is proceeded in death by her late husband Kenneth Mullins of Cardington. Her brothers Bill (Shelby) Coleman, Roger (Wanda) Coleman, sisters, Betty (Clyde) Coleman, Deloras Newsom and brother-in-law Doug Coleman.
Friends may call on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center St. Cardington, Ohio 43315. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with pastor's Bill Smith and Charles Edwards officiating. The burial will follow in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers that you would consider making a donation to Hospice of Morrow County as they provided Nanny with a lot of love and comfort in her final days.
Gompf Funeral Service of Cardington is honored to have been chosen to assist the Mullins family with Glenia's final wishes.
