Gavin Dwight Shadwick

Gavin D. Shadwick, age 73, of Marengo died Monday, March 23, 2020, in the Marion General Hospital. He was born January 4, 1947, in Columbus to the late Leo “Pete” and Mary J. (White) Shadwick.

Gavin was a graduate of Dublin High School and had been the Director of Education at the Ohio State Barber College. He was an animal lover who liked horses, cattle and dogs. He enjoyed doing oil painting on canvas and was a weaver of stories and tales. He was a fan of muscle cars, car shows, and tractor pulls. When relaxing he watched westerns, with “The Duke” John Wayne being his favorite actor. His favorite pass time in life was dancing with Danna.

On May 28, 1983, Gavin married the former Danna M. Bowman and she survives in Marengo. Additional survivors are Gavin’s children; Lora (David) Turner of Columbus, Gavin Shadwick, Jr. of Columbus, Shayla Shadwick of Marengo, and Arianna Shadwick of Marengo; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kerry (Linda) Shadwick of Gahanna.

In addition to his parents, Gavin was preceded in death by his son Tyler Shadwick and sister Kathy Shadwick.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday March 27 at 1:00 PM in the Marengo Cemetery. A memorial gathering and service will be held at a later date to be announced once the current restrictions on public gatherings is lifted.
