Gary L. Cox, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, age 72 of Cardington passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Gary was born on October 21, 1953, in Columbus to the late James T. and Doris A. (Stapleton) Cox.
Gary graduated in 1972 from Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio. Gary was a dedicated Press Operator at G.E. Hyperion in Worthington, Ohio, where he worked until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed a variety of activities, including riding motorcycles, traveling the country, and hunting. A true lover of the outdoors, Gary also spent many memorable moments going four-wheeling in West Virginia. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his wife, family, and friends, creating lasting memories with those he loved.
On December 15, 1979, Gary married the love of his life Donna Sue (Hardwick) in Fort Gay, West Virginia. Donna survives in Cardington.
In addition to his wife, Gray is survived by their two sons: James Thomas "Tommy" Cox and Adam Scott Cox both of Cardington; his four grandchildren: Devin, Alyssa, Timothy and Mathew Cox; as well as his sister Brenda Kay Cox-McCroskey of Phoenix, AZ.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister Linda Sue Davidson.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, 3055 State Route 95, Edison, Ohio 43320 with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery.
