Franklin "Frank" Himler Obituary

Franklin "Frank" D. Himler, age 91 of Cardington passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1934, to the late Walter H. and Mabel E. (Schorr) Himler.

Frank was a 1952 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School. Following graduation, he went on to work at HPM, Marion Power Shovel, and Omar Bakery before going on to work as a route man and truck driver for Pepsi Cola, where he dedicated 36 years of service.

On September 24, 1982, he married Judith "Judy" (Jewett) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cardington, and she survives.

Frank and Judy were longtime members of the Pepsi Cola Collectors Club and enjoyed collecting memorabilia over the years. He loved camping and traveling, visiting all 50 states except HI and AK with his wife Judy. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and taking his dogs for walks. Frank also liked to read, and when he wasn't busy, he could usually be found aggravating his family. Growing up, he was affectionately known as "trouble."

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children, Karen Jordan of Belfair, WA, Joy (Steve) Moore of Cardington, Tim (Stephanie) Himler of Marion, Tony (Sharon) Himler of Marion, Cindi (Scott) Baker of Galena, Sheri (Lenny) Hegi of Cosby, TN, Troy (Laci) Showalter of Mount Vernon, and Jody (Tina) Showalter of Sandusky; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister Esther Yake of Cardington, sister in law Ginger Himler of Marion, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a grandchild, Amanda Himler, great-grandchild Makayla Moore, his brothers Richard and George Himler, and a son in law Joseph Jordan.


Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 16, 2026, with calling hours one hour prior, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 336 West Main in Cardington. Pastor Steven Dennis will officiate. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
