Francis “Marion” Lewis, age 89 of Mount Gilead passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026. He was born on November 7, 1936, in Vanceburg, Kentucky to the late John and Edith (Jordan) Lewis.
Marion had worked as a welder and a sheet metal operator. He served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 until his honorable discharge.
Marion was quite a sports enthusiast, especially when the Buckeyes were playing. His favorite time of the week was spent on Sunday morning at his local church.
On September 9, 1961, in Vanceburg, Kentucky Marion married Lois Ann (Keen), she preceded him in death on April 29, 2020.
Marion is survived by his son David (Tracy) Lewis of Iowa, grandson Dylan Lewis of Maryland, his brother Harry (Penny) Lewis of Kentucky, and Ralph Cook of Mount Gilead. Sister-in-law Wilma (Lenny) Zornes of Marengo. And many Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Marion was preceded in death by his daughter Bethanne Lewis and two siblings.
Friends may call on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral directly following at 12:00 PM with Pastor Martin Spearman officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Bryn Zion Cemetery with full military honors. Following the burial there will be a celebration of life and luncheon at the Pulaskiville Community Bible Church, 4865 Co Rd 98 Mt. Gilead, OH 43338.
