Floyd was born February 12, 1930, in Bechtelsville, PA to the late Mr. Jonathan G. Bortz and Mrs. Verna R. (Benfield) Bortz.
He crossed over on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Floyd served in the United States Army as a Staff Sgt. in the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division, Korea. He also served as a Military Policeman in the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
He worked in the uranium mines in New Mexico and copper mines in Arizona for several years before moving to Cardington, Ohio. From there he moved to Ringling, Oklahoma in 1996.
Floyd loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family. He lived a long, full life and will be dearly missed by many. He was of the Christian faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Rosemary, son Anothony, sister Dorothy, brother Russell and Lois, the mother of his children.
Survivors include his children, Floyd (Jennifer) Bortz, Jr., Yvonne (Brian) Eastep, Greta Skeens, Jonathan (Aloha) Bortz and Curtis Bortz; Stepchildren Ramona Johnson and Daniel Wolf; Siblings Chester, Mae, Virginia, Butch, Anna, Linda, and David; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Floyd’s ashes will be brought back to Ohio at a later date to be buried beside Rosie at Glendale Cemetery in Cardington.
