Obituary

Evelyn M. Mattox, age 83 of Delaware passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Embassy of Marion. She was born on January 1, 1940, in Delaware to the late Joseph H. and Jessie S. (Green) Bennett.

Evelyn had worked as a housekeeper at the Delaware Hotel. She loved to play bingo and spending time with her family and friends.

Evelyn and Martin C. Mattox had been married for 38 years, he preceded her in death on January 1, 2021.

Evelyn is survived by her sister Ruby Howard of Mount Gilead as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Earl, Ralph, James, and Joseph Bennett and her sister Mildred Walker.
