Esther "Susie" M. Parsons, beloved mother and grandmother, age 80 of Marion passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 12, 1944, the youngest of eight children to the late Milo E. and Alda E. (McPeek) Shaffer. Susie leaves behind a legacy filled with love and compassion that will live on in the lives of those she touched.
Susie was a homemaker; she took pride in taking care of her family. She later went on to work at Wyandot Snacks in Marion for 10 years until she retired. She was a member of Richland Road Church of Christ; her faith was very important to her.
She had a special place in her heart for her cats, who were as much a part of her family as anyone else. Her love for them, like her love for her family, was endless. She was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, never missing a game, always cheering them on with passion and pride.
On August 2, 1961, Susie married Clarence "Clem" Parsons in Bucyrus, he preceded her in death August 4, 1995.
Susie is survived by her three daughters: Cindi Truitt of Marion, Tina Davis of Marion and Lisa Gear of Texas, siblings Mary Morrow and William "Bill" Shaffer, as well as five grandchildren: Natalie O'Donnell, Erin Dimond, Chelsea Gregory, Michael Davis and Megan Davis; and four great-grandchildren: Landon, Maddie, Addyson, and Jaxson.
In addition to her parents and husband Susie was preceded in death by her three brothers Robert, Earl and George Shaffer and two sisters Barbara Etgan and Phyllis Shover. Susie will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire her loved ones every day.
A graveside service for Susie will take place on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM in Glendale Union Cemetery with Pastor Russell Howard officiating. Following the service a lunch will take place at the Richland Road Church of Christ.
