Ernest "Ernie" Lee Bowersmith

Ernest “Ernie” L. Bowersmith, beloved husband and son, age 65 of Mount Gilead passed away Friday, October 4, 2024.  He was born on June 22, 1959, to Ernest and Janet (Strohl) Bowersmith who survives.

Ernie had worked construction for Ellis Brothers Construction for a few years and later for Buckeye Concrete. Ernie loved his job and loved working with his co-workers. Ernie love motorcycles, cars and trucks of all kinds. He enjoyed his motorcycle and taking rides with his wife. Ernie had a heart for stray animals, so much so when he retired, he wanted to build a kennel and help the Humane Society with their overflow and had spoke to the county dog warden about his idea. Ernie’s philosophy was, no stray was to be left outside.

On July 30, 1983, Ernie married Susan (Seitz) at the Cardington Methodist Church, she survives in Mount Gilead.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ernie is survived by his brother Rick Bowersmith and his sister Connie Bell, as well as numerous nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his brother John Bowersmith.

A celebration of life for Ernie will be held on Sunday October 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the American Legion Hall, 307 Park Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315. Covered dishes are welcome and bring your own bottle.
