Elsie Vermi (Kincaid) Deckling

Elsie V. Deckling, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, age 75 of Caledonia passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Ohio Health Riverside Hospital. She was born on November 24, 1948, to the late Daniel C. and Airetta M. (Stoner) Kincaid.

Elsie was married to George Clinton Deckling Sr., he preceded her in death on September 13, 2008.

Elsie had worked for several years at JG Clark. She was "just grandma" to any and all kids, even if they were not her own. She had a special way with little ones. Elsie loved to socialize and shop QVC. In her free time she enjoyed her flowers and gardening.

Elsie is survived by her children: Patricia (Jeffrey) Stone of Caledonia, George Deckling Jr. of Bucyrus, and son-in-law Melvin Robinson of Cardington; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Fred (Carol) Kincaid of Cardington, Clarence Kincaid of Marion, Lola Elzey of Mount Gilead, Cathryn Redd of Marion, and John (Jane) Kincaid of Marion.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her daughter Mattie Robinson and her four brothers: Clifford, Eldon Jr., Kenneth, and Roger Kincaid.

Friends may call on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 1:00 PM. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
