Edward "Eddie" Scott Lechler, age 58 of Cardington passed away Tuesday May 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 6, 1967, in Columbus to Earl "Butch" and Sally (Sheets) Lechler.
Eddie is preceded in death with his father, Butch Lechler, in addition to his father, Eddie was preceded in death by Grandparents Ralph and Aubry Lechler and Edward and Velma Sheets.
He is survived by his adoring mother, Sally Lechler (of Sunbury), sister, Lisa and Rick Rees of Cardington, children, Tarah and Garret Kennedy of Bradenton, Florida, Tasha Rydle of Delaware, Ohio and Anthony Williams of Delaware, Ohio. Stepdaughters, Sierra and Chyanne Ransbottom. Nieces, Cassie, Sydney, Markayla, and Madison, several grandbabies, cousins, and more friends that anyone could count.
Eddie had a zest for life that only a few people could understand. As a young boy he could be found on his dirt bike doing the craziest stunts and jumps! He once tied a bath towel in the form of a cape and decided it would allow him to fly off the roof of the house, and even though it tragically failed him the first time, Eddie had to try it one more time. But his love for aviation did not stop there. A licensed pilot, he had a passion for aviation and enjoyed flying Mooney complex aircraft. Eddie felt free in the air as long as he was the pilot. Eddie could be considered a "dreamer" but that would be an understatement, he went after his dreams and made them a reality.
Eddie was the proud owner of Lechler Dumpster Rental and Hauling, where he built a respected business through hard work and dedication. He was a one man show and was devoted to every customer he served. His love for all things with a motor was evident-whether it was boats, motorcycles, or airplanes, he found joy and freedom in the roar of an engine. His adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for machinery were matched by a strong work ethic and deep love for his family and friends. If Eddie learned your name, you could bet that he would approach you by your name at every encounter thereafter. He wanted everyone to feel special and seen. Eddie lit up a room, not only because of his "obvious" good looks, it was simply his unique presence.
Eddie knew of Danyle from his sister, Lisa, who was a former nurse for Danyle's daughter. One day he went to Danyle's workplace to "check her out." He called Lisa from Jack's Famous Diner and said, 'Does she have blonde hair and walks really fast, and bee bops around a lot?" After confirmation that he found her, he called her over and asked her, "do I look like somebody you know?" Danyle, with a dish rag in tow, quickly responded, "nope, is there anything else I can get ya?" The rest was history. On November 16, 2009, Eddie married Danyle where they bought their first home and quickly settled into building their lives together in Cardington. Eddie had a close relationship with God from a very young age, and he held Him close the entirety of his earthly life. His love for his animals was quite evident, it could be said that Eddie could understand animals much easier than he could most humans. He loved the simplicity of their loyalty and unconditional love. Just like his dad, Eddie could be described best by one word. UNIQUE.
