Edna Robinson Obituary

Edna Marie Robinson, 94 years old, of Sarasota, Florida, was welcomed into the presence of the Lord on June 27, 2022. Before moving to Florida in November 2018, she lived in the Mt. Gilead/Cardington, Ohio, area for 45 years. She was born to Rev. Charles John and Jennie Melissa (Peelle) Carey on February 13, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio.

She will be dearly missed by her four surviving children and spouses: Jacquelyn Kay (Raymond) Gilbuena of Aliso Viejo, California; Charles Thomas (Nancy) Jones of Damascus, Ohio; Laurie Ann (David) Hurt of Johnson City, Tennessee; Patricia Lynn (Brian) Mosher of Sarasota, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also, eight surviving step-children and spouses: Charles William (Nancy) Henry of Roslyn, Pennsylvania; Donald Gene (Sandra) Henry of Cardington, Ohio; Craig Edward (Linda) Henry of Canton, Ohio; Charles Leonard (Rebecca) Robinson, Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee; Gary Alen (Patrice) Robinson of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; Ronald Wayne (Deborah) Robinson of Canfield, Ohio; Charlann Kay (Don) Murray of Cedar City, Utah; Joanna Faye (Stephan) Curts of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; and blessed with a growing number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

For twenty-one years she shared the parsonage with her parents as they moved from Mt. Pleasant to Springfield, Ohio, and Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she lived until her marriage in 1950. A milestone in her life was at the age of six when she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior, following a sermon preached by her father. She graduated from Lincoln Consolidated High School near Ypsilanti, Michigan, in 1946, and in September of 1946 she started attending Cleveland Bible College in Cleveland, Ohio (now Malone University in Canton, Ohio). It was in the Fall of 1946 when she completely opened her heart and life to Jesus Christ. In 1949, her college education was cut short because of her father's death and the need to return home and support and care for her mother.

On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage with Carl Douglas Jones at the Friends Church, Ypsilanti, Michigan. Together, they ministered at: North Solon Baptist, North Solon, Ohio; Deerfield Friends Church, Deerfield, Ohio; and Damascus Friends Church, Damascus, Ohio.

On June 16, 1973, she married Charles Edward Henry at Damascus Friends Church, Damascus, Ohio. From this marriage she gained three step-sons and their wives (listed above) whom she loved as her own. After twenty-eight years of marriage, Charles passed away on June 15, 2001.

On February 14, 2002, she was united in marriage with Rev. Charles Leonard Robinson in Venice, Florida. A blessing to her was the addition of six step-children and their families (listed above). After nine and a half years together, Charles passed away on August 3, 2011.

Edna was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles John Carey, Jr.; five half-brothers and spouses: Kenneth and Agnes Carey; Milford and Colene Carey; Herbert and Eugenia Carey; Marvin and Alice Carey; and Norman Carey; one half-sister and spouse: Florence and John Grafton; one half niece, Elizabeth Katachka; a great granddaughter, Alissa Nicole Baer; a step-daughter, Pamela Joy Bailey; a niece, Marion Malin; and nephew, John Grafton, Jr.

A service of celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Gilead Friends Church, Mount Gilead, Ohio from 2:00-3:30 pm with the funeral service following at 3:30 pm. Burial followed at the Quakerdom Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Gilead Friends Church.
