Dorothy J. Kyrk, age 94 of Cardington died Tuesday, March 2, 2022, at the Woodside Village Care Center. She was born on September 28, 1927, in Wallins Creek, KY to Grandville and Fannie (Caldwell) Hopkins-Blanton who preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a homemaker and did in home daycare. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing, country music and walking all over town going to garage sales. Dorothy's motto she went by was "eating an onion a day, kept the doctor away".
On May 15, 1960, Dorothy married Edward Lowry Kyrk, who preceded her in death on August 10, 1975.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Erik (Allison) Kyrk of Cardington, Lloyd (Elizabeth) Kyrk of Crestline, Debbie (Rodney) Clady of Marion, Larry Blanton of Mount Gilead, and Brenda Tannyhill; her sister Edna Hensley of Mt. Olivet, KY., and her brother Hubert Blanton of Mount Gilead; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Danny Blanton; her brothers: Dave Brock, Bill Blanton, and Sam Blanton; her sisters: Eva Byrd, Minnie Osborne, and Phoebe McLain.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, at the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery.
