Donald J. McLain, age 73 of Mount Gilead passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024. He was born on April 11, 1951 Wallins Creek, Kentucky in Harlan County to the late Joe F. and Phoebe J. (Blanton) McLain.
Donald was a 1970 graduate of Cardington- Lincoln Hogh School. After graduation he went to serve in the United State Navy. Donald had worked for Field Container Corporation in Marion for several years as well as Yutaka, Cardington, Ohio and Kroger in Mount Gilead, Ohio.
Donald enjoyed working on cars and was very mechanical and could fix just about anything. He loved to watch movies and listen to music. Donald was a compassionate and loving person who took pride in taking care of his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Donald is survived by Micah McLain of Mount Gilead, Ohio, his two sons: Seth McLain of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Garret (Melissa Ramsey) McLain; four grandchildren: Rosalynne McLain, Korben McLain, Aiden McLain and Cameron (Shyann) McLain; his siblings: Delmar McLain of Fulton, Ohio, Darell (Janice) McLain of Fulton, Ohio, Ernie (Sharon) Osborne of Cardington, Ohio, Darcell (Kathy) McLain of Westerville, Ohio, Albert & Betty McLain and family of Claxton, Tennessee and Carlene McLain of Columbus, Ohio; as well a numerous extended family member who he loved dearly.
We would like to thank wo of our nieces, Collie Tucker of Fulton, Ohio and Katrinia McLain also of Fulton, Ohio, for all of your love and ongoing prayers, you meant the world to you "Unlce Donnie".
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kaitlyn McLain.
A celebration of Donald's life will take place at a later date for friends and family with full military honors.
