Donald E. High, age 86 of Cardington passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 8, 1939, in Cardington to the late Albert and Pauline (Roush) High.
Donald was a true lover of farming and horses, passions that shaped much of his life. He was a proud member of the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Horseman's Association and remained a dedicated alumnus of the Cardington FFA. Donald participated in founding the Jug Sale in Delaware. Known for his generosity and warmth, Donald loved handing out candy to everyone, always eager to spread joy. He enjoyed poker nights with friends and cherished spending time with his grandkids, taking them on tractor rides and sharing the simple pleasures of country life. A people person at heart, Donald had a special bond with his Amish friends and fond memories of the many weenie roasts that he put on. His kindness and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Donald is survived by his children: Michael E. (Vickie) High, Michael A. High both of Cardington, Michele (Adam) Curry, Mary Ann High, Mark (Chris) High, all of Mount Gilead and Monty (Theresa) High of Kentucky; eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death his siblings, Albert "Bud" High Sr., Charles High, Kenneth High, Opal Louise McQueen, Betty Showers, Helen McQueen and Clara Collins; and his grandchildren: Justin Williamson-Stratton, Anthony High, Callie Williamson and Carina Williamson.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington with the funeral service directly following at 1:00 PM. Following the service, the burial will take place in Marlborough Cemetery.
