Dianne VanHouten, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, age 72 of Cardington, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1952, in Smithers, West Virginia, to the late Richard L. and Lousie (Massey) Petry.
Dianne dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others. A long-time resident of Cardington, Ohio, she was known for her warm heart and unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Dianne was a 1971 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School and went on to serve as a devoted day care provider in her home for over 30 years. Her compassion and dedication to the children in her care left a lasting impact on many families in the area. She was also an active member of the Cardington Church of the Nazarene. Dianne volunteered her time at the Cardington Food Pantry, demonstrating her unwavering spirit of service and generosity.
On October 10, 2003, she married Dale E. VanHouten in Cardington, he preceded her in death on December 5, 2022.
Dianne is survived by her two sons, Shane (Mandy) Young of Reynoldsburg, OH., and Kirbie (Samantha) Young of Greenfield, IN., her five grandchildren: Kira, Marlo, Marnie, Sean and Ava; as well has her sister Brenda (Mark) Grau of Marion, two brothers Fred (Vickie) Petry of Marion and Randy (Tina) Petry of Prestonsburg, KY., and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her brother Richard Petry.
Friends may call on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, Ohio and on Thursday, March 6 at Gompf Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 AM until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chris Umphryes officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
