Dean Evan Curl passed away peacefully at Port Charlotte Florida ShorePoint Health Hospital on Friday, September 9, 2022, after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.
Dean was born in Cardington, Ohio to Harry H. and Marjorie Curl, the youngest of four children.
While attending Cardington schools, he was active in sports and extra-curricular activities, and
was President of the Cardington graduating class of 1955.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1961 from Denison University and a Juris Doctor
degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1964. Dean returned to Morrow County and practiced
law with offices in Cardington and Mount Gilead.
Dean was the Morrow County Prosecuting Attorney from 1965 to 1976 and served as judge in the
Morrow County Common Pleas and Juvenile Courts from 1987 through 1998. He was active in the
Rotary Club, Kiwanis, and the Red Cross. He served as General Campaign Chairman for the United Way and
Heart Fund.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Carol, his son Bradley, and his sister Jo Anne Forbes. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Cynthia Curl of Port Charlotte, FL and brothers Kent Curl, of Coronado, CA and Dr. Franklin Curl of Vancouver, WA.
