Darrell W. McLain beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and brother age 77 of Fulton, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 28, 1948, in Wallins Creek, Kentucky, to the late Joe F. and Phoebe J. (Blanton) McLain.
Darrell was a 1967 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. After graduation Darrell joined the United States Army 82nd Airborne and served from 1968 to 1974. Darrell worked in Maintenance at Whirlpool for over 38 years until he retired.
Darrell was a member of Vessel Community Church as well as a former member of Flying Feather. Over the course of his life, Darrell enjoyed a variety of passions that brought him joy. He spent 14 years camping, singing karaoke and playing disc golf, a pastime that became a cherished tradition. In his younger years he was an avid motorcyclist, loved bowling, archery and horseshoes. Darrell could often be seen taking rides around Fulton in his golfcart with dog Mia, enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
On June 29, 1970, in the Nazarene Church in Fulton, Ohio Darrell married Janice Sue (Garverick). She preceded him in death on August 19, 2025.
Darrell is survived by their daughters: Katrinia McLain and Collie (Mike) Tucker both of Fulton; four grandchildren: Karlissa (Danielle) Treboni, Trey (Kirsten) Osborn, Courtney (Cole) Blackwell, and Trent (Sydney) Tucker; five great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings: Darcel (Kathy) McLain of Westerville, Carlene McLain of Columbus, Delmar McLain of Cardington, Ernie (Sharon) Osborne of Cardington, and Frank Albert (Betty) McLain of TN.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his brother Donald McLain.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral service directly following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jesse McLeod officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery with full military honors.
