Darrel E. Kirby, age 65 of Prospect peacefully passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital after a short battle with cancer in the comfort of his two boys. He was born on September 22, 1957, to Richard and Joan (Yoakam) Kirby.
Darrel was a 1976 graduate of North Union High School and went on to work as a carpenter for himself. He was an extremely skilled carpenter with craftsmanship known to many who encountered his work.
Darrel loved spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys in life was being able to enjoy their company. As his boys, Drew and Cameron grew up, Darrel loved supporting them with anything and everything they were involved with. He enjoyed working on projects with his sons, doing anything he could to help his family. He was most recently looking forward to retirement, where his plan was moving closer to his son Cameron and helping him manage his construction company.
Darrel loved cooking and grilling food for his family. He also loved to serve others and would give you the shirt right off his back. Many times, in life Darrel put the needs of others before himself, he was the true definition of a servant.
In addition to his father Richard, Darrel is survived by his two sons, Drew (Laurie) Kirby of Dublin, Cameron (Alex) Kirby of Gallipolis; five grandchildren: Kendall, Kash, Rhett, Weston, and Blake Kirby; his brother Mike (Jill) Kirby of Richwood and his sister Karen (Randy) Riffle of Richwood; nieces and nephews: Kacy Kirby and BJ Bolt, Karmon (Alex) Dorsey, Kayne (Kathleen) Kirby, Randall (Tara) Riffle, Darin (Katrina) Riffle, Dustin Riffle, Kirby (Justin) Robinson, Jared (Andrea) Kirby, Summer (Dustin) Balzer as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
