Carolyn Lucile (Downs) Poole

February 4, 1941 ~ June 3, 2023 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Obituary

Carolyn L. Poole, age 82 of Mount Gilead, died on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Embassy of Marion. She was born on February 4, 1941, in Mansfield to the late Russel L. and Lettie L. (Yost) Downs.

Carolyn was a 1959 graduate of Lexington High School. She went on to nursing school where she obtained a Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate in 1965, she then worked for the Marion General Hospital for several years. Later she moved to Buckeye Lake and later to Columbus where she worked for JC Penny at their outlet until retirement.

She had attended the Cardington First United Methodist Church and was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield. In her free time Carolyn enjoyed cleaning and doing fun things with her friends.

Carolyn had no children of her own, so she was especially close to her nieces and nephews who survive: Deborah McGowan of Cardington, Tara Neal of Arkansas, Michelle Downs of Georgia, Brett Downs, and Todd Downs both of Oklahoma; she is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Bailey and a brother, Russell Downs; her two husbands: Joseph Mitchell and James Poole; and a nephew, Gary Rowand.

In keeping with Carolyn's final wishes, no formal services will be observed immediately. A private burial will take place in the Mansfield Cemetery by her parents plots at a later date.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the First United Methodist Church, 300 South Main St. Cardington, Ohio 43315.
