Carol D. Carpenter, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, age 82 of Cardington, passed away on Thursday August 28, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. She was born on September 29, 1942, in Mount Gilead to Anthony Ceckitti and Mary Aldine (Hedrick) Ceckitti who preceded her in death.
Carol was a graduate of Mount Gilead High School and went on to Cosmetology School.
Carol loved to read, crochet and play Candy Crush. She enjoyed rooting for Ohio State and the Cincinnati Reds. Though Carol didn't like to be the center of attention she deserves to have her years of love and kindness honored. Her house was the one where all family and friends went to have a cup of coffee anytime of the day, there was always a full pot on. Carol created a space where people felt loved-whether they came for a quick visit or stayed for hours. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, and the love and laughter she shared with her family and friends.
On December 17, 1961, Carol married Merrill M. Carpenter, and they spent 55 years together. Merrill preceded her in death on August 17, 2017.
Carol is survived by her children Kelley (Steve) Singrey of Tiffin and Terri Foltz (Chris Rogers) of Cardington, four grandchildren: Janae (Chris) Haislip of Lewisburg, TN, Melinda Frederick of Tiffin, Trent Foltz of Mount Gilead and Haley (Devon) Bartlett of Mount Gilead; bonus grandchild Elly (Jason) Lynch of TX, five great-grandchildren: Ashton, Emily, Zander, Airianna and Ben; as well as her brother Tom Farrington of Cardington and sister Helen Farrington.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Hadley Bartlett and her brother Richard Ceckitti.
A graveside service for Carol will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to the Cardington Library, 128 E. Main Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315
