Carl Eugene Cole

Carl E. Cole, age 86 of Cardington died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Morrow County Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1931 to the late George and Faye (Huddleston) Cole. Carl worked at Penn Walt Chemical Company, Eaton- Axle and Anheuser-Busch Container Recovery. Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Jenkins-Vaughn American Legion Post #97 and the AmVets Post. Carl enjoyed dancing and he was a longtime supporter of Horse 4-H. But most of all he loved his family. On November 25, 1955 Carl married Janet Foltz at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, who preceded him in death on April 5, 1991. Carl is survived by his children: Roger (Cathy) Cole of Cardington, Julia (Curtis) Curtis of Cardington, and Carla (Charles) McWilliams of Cardington; 5 grandchildren: Amanda Cole, Cori (Brett) Furer, Jerred Fraizer, Austin Curtis and Aubrey Curtis; great-grandchild, Rory Nida; and brother, Wayne Cole, Sr. of Cardington. In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Vaughn, Clyde, Herbert, Paul and Harold Cole; 3 sisters, Dorothy Dye, Myrtle Howard and Helen Hunt. Friends may call on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at the funeral home at 10:30 am with Pastor Paul Turner officiating. Following the service the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
