Brenda C. Monk, age 82 of Cardington passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Woodside Village Care Center. She was born on November 24, 1943, in Ashley, Ohio to the late Elwin L. Helman and Grace E. (Fraizer).
Brenda worked at the Morrow County Jail as a corrections officer until her retirement. She was a member of Mount Gilead Church of Christ.
In her free time, Brenda found joy in crocheting, piecing together puzzles, and collecting angel figurines. Brenda was very competitive when it came to playing cards and games with her family. She cherished these hobbies, which reflected her creativity, patience, and appreciation for life's simple blessings.
On October 13, 1962, Brenda married Jack D. Monk in Marengo, and he survives in Cardington.
In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by their children: Jackie Searls of Cardington, Cathie (Chris) Robinson of Mount Gilead, Roxie (Barry) Neumeister of Findlay and Brian (Leah) Monk of Mount Gilead; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her stepbrother Richard Evans of Tennessee and her brother-in-law David (Mary) Monk of Texas.
In addition to her parents and stepmother Billie Helman, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister Loree Curren, two stepbrothers Raymond and Mike Evans and her half sister Candy Walker.
A private family service will take place with Pastor Doug Bryan officiating. Burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
