Boyd "Junior" Pennington, age 66 of Mount Gilead passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1959, in Mount Gilead to the late Boyd and Catherine L. (Dobbins) Pennington.
Junior was a dedicated factory worker who spent years contributing his skills at various workplaces. Most recently, he worked at A.H.P. in Delaware.
Outside of work, Junior had a deep love for music, especially Elvis, whose songs he enjoyed listening to and singing along with. He was also a fan of Evel Knievel and loved watching his daring stunts. At home, Junior found joy in playing his guitar and singing, often filling the house with music. He had a great sense of humor and truly enjoyed making people laugh, bringing smiles to those around him. More than anything, he cherished being at home with his family, as spending time with them meant the most to him.
On February 12, 2012, Junior married Delores "Dee" (Ray) in Mount Gilead. She survives in Mount Gilead.
In addition to his wife, Junior is survived by his children: Rivers (Autumn) Pennington of Mount Gilead, Jeremy (Kali) Kanniard of Ashley, Stephen (Amber) Kanniard of Ostrander and Cody (Kylee) Kanniard of Mount Gilead; twelve grandchildren; and his siblings: George (Tammy) Pennington, Sharon Thompson, Goldie Saum and Carole (Robert) Buchwalter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his sisters: Judy Levings, Bernie Everly, and Leona Osborne.
A celebration of Junior's life will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Ashley Wesleyan Church, 305 E. High Street, Ashley, Ohio 43003.
