Beulah "Boots" B. Smith, age 93 of Cardington, died Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Marion General Hospital. She was born on March 25, 1927 in Cardington to the late Walter F. and Leola L. (Holt) Beatty.
Beulah was a 1945 graduate of the Cardington Lincoln High School where she was the Salutatorian of her graduation class. She had worked at Kinsell's Foodland in the meat department and as cashier for 24 years.
On March 29, 1952 in Liberty, Indiana Beulah married Homer Smith and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1999.
Beulah was a member of a lady's euchre club, troop leader for the Brownie and Girl Scouts, member of a bowling league at Morrow Lanes and had kept stats for her husbands fast-pitch softball team. She loved playing euchre and any type of card game, working in her flower beds, and enjoyed traveling. She also was a member of the Cardington Church of the Nazarene.
Left to cherish Beulah's memory are her 3 children: Angie Smith of Galion, Karla (Paul) Nicodemus of Pleasant View, TN and Durand (Sheryl) Smith of Ashley; 1 brother, James Beatty; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded in death by 6 siblings.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center St. Cardington, Ohio 43315. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM with Jane Edgell officiating. The burial will follow in the Glendale Union Cemetery. Due to the Governor's mandate, face masks are required to enter the funeral home.
