Betty Hollingsworth Obituary

Betty Lou (Waddell) Hollingsworth, 73, died peacefully surrounded by her family, on January 8, 2022, on her 101st day of her fight with AML Leukemia. She was born on April 24, 1948 in Mansfield, OH, to Richard and Fleurette (Dube) Waddell. Betty attended and graduated from Crestline schools, with the class of '66. Throughout her teenage years, she was known to babysit for many of her neighbors, then worked at ITT North for 23 years, and eventually retired from General Mills after 23 years. During her time working at ITT North she was able to meet her loving husband, Gene.

On May 10, 1969, Betty married Gene Hollingsworth, where they were able to spend 52 loving years together. Within those years they were blessed with four children; Ken Hollingsworth, Kim (Gene Hobbs) Hollingsworth, Kelli (Steve) Pfeifer, and Karen Seitz. They were also blessed with five grandchildren, Brady, Kaitlynn, Jacob, Haley, and Carter, who she adored. Betty was truly the definition of a caring and loving mother and grandmother. Always hosting dinners and wanting to play games with anyone in the house. There was not a time where her house was not filled with her family, love, and laughter.

Betty attended First Baptist Church, and was apart of the Women's Fellowship group. Betty was also known most for her excellent skills in the kitchen, it was not hard to guess where she would be. Although everything she made was delicious, her family's favorites were her brownies, cakes, and cookies. Another hobby was collecting Doughboy memorabilia, which could be seen all throughout the house, and even on some of her shirts. Always taking care of anyone around her, there were many times where she would mend or sew any items that were asked of her. One of Betty's favorite pastimes was crocheting, and even taught her granddaughter, Haley.

When Betty was not baking or watching her grandchildren, her competitive nature was bound to come out. Some of her favorite games included marbles, any type of card game, and even Go- Fish. The kitchen table was always full, and so was everyone's stomachs. After every dinner, Betty always suggested a game of Progressive Gin, Euchre, or marbles.

Betty is survived by her husband, brother, Donald Waddell, sister-in-laws, Michele Waddell and Jill Waddell, children, her grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Chuck, Richard, and baby brother, Ruben.
