Betty (McClung) Hickman, age 92 of Delaware passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Ohio Living Sarah Moore Nursing Home. She was born on February 4, 1930 in Marion to John S. and Evelyn E. (Sisson) McClung who preceded her in death.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Martel High School. She received her bachelor's in education from Arizona State as well as her master's degree in Elementary Education. Betty started teaching at Lehi Elementary in Mesa AZ. on the Pima Indian Reservation. She was also an elementary teacher at Elgin Schools until retirement.
Betty enjoyed square dancing, cross stitching, knitting, and crocheting. She loved her flowers. Betty had a love for traveling and she was able to visit all 50 states and quite a few countries.
Betty is survived by her children: Robert (Colleen) Hickman of WA., Christopher (Sherry) Hickman of Radnor, Cynthia Leibold of Russell's Point, daughter in law Cathy Honaker of Mount Gilead; her eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her siblings: Helen McLaughlin of Bellville, Janice Bivens of Arizona, Sharon Taylor of Crown City and Peggy Burkepile of Mansfield, and her former daughter in law Linda Hickman of Delaware.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son David A. Hickman, her sister Patricia Kennedy and brother Ronald McClung.
Friends may call on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington, with the funeral service directly following at 11:30 Am. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Union Cemetery.
