Betty Gruber Obituary

Betty J. Gruber, age 92 of Mount Gilead passed away after a brief illness, July 13, 2022, at Marion General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 10, 1930, in Harpster, Ohio to Florace and Eva (White) Searles who preceded her in death.

Betty graduated from Harpster High School then went to Marion Business College. She had worked for Columbia Gas for five years. She was a farm wife that worked alongside Clarence on the dairy farm and a homemaker. She was a devoted mother to her children. Betty loved all sports and loved and supported her grandchildren and all their events.

Betty was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church Windfall. She was a member of the Ohio Flying Farmers and on Farm Bureau Council.

On June 20, 1954, Betty married Clarence L. Gruber who preceded her in death in 1993.

Betty is survived by her children, Deborah (Bob) Roscello of Etowah NC., Stephen (Diane) Gruber of Urbana, Barbara (Dan) Sherbourne of Mount Gilead, and Douglas (Michele) Gruber of Edison; her grandchildren: Frank (Shannon Erskine) Shoults, Tony (Jill) Gruber, Ashley (Matt) Marquis, Kendra (Lance) Hill, Sara (Brad) Craig, Scott (Abby) Gruber; her great-grandchildren: Jacoby Gruber, Ty Gruber, Aria Marquis, Carson Craig, Corbin Craig, Colt Craig, Kennedy Craig and Paxton Gruber; her brother Eddie Searles of TX., and sister Gloria Seckel of Marion.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Reynolds and Ruthella Gale.

Per Betty's wishes a private graveside funeral service will be held in the Windfall Cemetery.
