Betty Jane (Pearl) Bailey

Betty Jane Bailey, age 96 of Mount Gilead died Monday, August 16, 2021, at Woodside Village Care Center. She was born on June 4, 1925, to James A. and Bertha M. (Rice) Pearl who preceded her in death.

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Johnstown Monroe High School. After high school Betty work for North Electric and later went on to work for ITT as an Engineer for 35 years. Betty in her free time enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

On December 12, 1975, Betty married Val Bailey, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1976.

Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law Fran Persinger of Mount Gilead, brother Gene Pearl of Fulton, four grandchildren Sherry Bret Bland) Spears of Cardington, Lori Jeffery of Mount Gilead, Larry (Ginger) Persinger Jr. of Mount Gilead, and Tammy (Kris) Sellers of Edison, seventeen great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Brittany, Megan, Tyler, Casey, Andrew, Corey, Breanna, Sarah, Ashley, Billy, Zac, Hunter, Makayla, Sam, Owen and Aryana and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son Larry Persinger, sister Shirley Bachelder, sister-in-law Marlene Pearl, and great-granddaughter Nicole Persinger.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm. with Pastor Steve Bloomfield officiating.
