Barbara Ann (Holmes) Staats

Barbara A. Staats, age 75 of Fulton passed away Wednesday March 1, 2023, at Marion General Hospital. She was born on December 23, 1947, in Springfield to Marion F. and Minnie Louise Holmes who preceded her in death.

Barbara was a homemaker; her joy was taking care of her children.

Barbara was a member of Edison Enterprise Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed reading, puzzles, Bible study and crocheting. She loved playing cards, especially Euchre with her kids and Skip Bo with her grandchildren.

On October 9, 1985, Barbara re-married Russell Staats. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2005.

Left to cherish Barbara's memory are her children: Roy "Chip" (Lynn) Walde Jr. of Mansfield, Michelle Staats of Cardington, and Anthony "Tony" (Julie) Staats of Marengo and Melissa (Steve) Coburn of North Ft. Myers, FL.; her honorary children: Stephanie Clark of Cardington and Christine Roberts of Iberia; twelve grandchildren:
Tabatha Walde, Bobbie Ann (Lonnie) Downer, Susan (Nick) Fullen, Hannah Staats, Jesse (Kayla) Lyons, Toni Marie (Montell) Staats, Jenny Lyons, Tristan Alex (Leaisha) Staats, Steven (Anabel) Coburn Jr, Jimmie Dale Coburn, Stephanie (Seir) Coburn, Gabriel Michael Coburn, and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Robert and four sisters Lena, Betty Thelma, and Virgie.

Friends may call on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. Funeral service will be held Saturday March 4, 2023, 9:30 AM with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Newcomers Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio.
