Barbara Ann Shaw, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, age 92, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025. Born on August 28, 1932, in Chesterville, to the late John M. and Mary E. (Ogden) Emmons. Barbara embraced life with a kind heart and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Barbara was a cook at Derrick Restaurant and her wisdom and nurturing nature made her a great cook. Her passion for crocheting and quilting created beautiful works of art for her family and friends. Barbara was an avid reader, and her faith guided her life as she was a dedicated member of the Chesterville Baptist Church.
On July 2, 1990, Barbara married Loyal E. Shaw in New Philadelphia, Ohio who preceded her in death on January 14, 2022.
Barbara was a beacon of love and strength for her family, raising nine children: Dixie Baer, Mark (Chris) Baer, David (Vickie) Baer, Matthew (Lisa) Baer, Daniel (Sherry) Baer, Heather (Rob) Ratcliff, Heidi (Jerry) VanDevelde, and Tim Baer. She was not only a devoted mother but also a proud grandmother to twenty grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to over thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love will continue to thrive through them.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Holly Robinson, and grandchildren Jared Baer and Melinda Ratcliff, as well as her three siblings: Mary Camm, Judy George and Dean Emmons.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM with her son-in-law Pastor Rob Ratcliff officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.
