Barbara Jean Henthorne, 91, of Cardington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, following a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. Born on July 31, 1933, to the late Delavon G. & Idella E. (Ault) Sparks in Claridon Township, Ohio, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest pride and joy was her family.
Barb graduated high school and began her career as a secretary, dedicating many years of service at the Morrow County Recorder's Office as well as working for Johnstone & Shinaberry Insurance Agencies. Throughout her life, Barb was an active member of her community, notably participating in a local mothers' club and attending euchre club gatherings. She found immense joy in playing cards, relishing the laughter and camaraderie shared with her friends.
Barb was zealous about her family and made it a priority to attend every event for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her yearly mother/daughter trips offered her a special opportunity to create lifelong memories with her beloved daughter, Cinda. She also treasured the moments spent dining out with her girlfriends, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
On May 6, 1953, Barb married William "Bill" H. Henthorne in Cardington, and he survives in Cardington.
Barb leaves behind her loving husband, William Henthorne, and her devoted daughter, Cinda (Gary) Haugsby. She is cherished by her grandchildren, Jason (Wendie) Ebert and Jennifer (Tim) Chiles, as well as step-grandson David Haugsby. Barb's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Elaina Chiles, Emma Chiles, Kade Ebert, and Chase Ebert; step-great grandchildren, Marissa and Reis Thompson. As well as several nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and compassion.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by two siblings, Janice Clinger and Robert Sparks.
Friends may call on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Reverend Don Ebert officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
