Tommy Craze Obituary

Tommy Douglas Craze, born October 16, 1970, suddenly and unexpectedly went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 23rd, 2019. He was 49 years old.

Tommy is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 24 years, Mandy Ann Craze, his mother Carolyn (Yoakam) Craze, and brothers, Troy and Tim. In addition to his immediate family, Tommy had a large extended family and was affectionately known as “Uncle Funcle” to many of those that loved him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Carl Thomas Craze in 2018.

Tommy was a friend to everyone he met and was full of life. He was energetic and enthusiastic about everything he did, and nothing could slow him down. Tommy’s greatest love outside of that for his family and friends, was coaching. Tommy coached high school football for 22 years, high school basketball for 10 years, and high school baseball for 8 years and was honored to be named Division III Coach of the Year in 2014. Most recently, Tommy was named head baseball coach of Logan High School and was prepping to begin the 2020 season. Coaching meant much more to Tommy than just calling plays or winning games. Tommy was equally concerned about the development of these young men both on and off the field. Over the years, Tommy’s abilities as a coach and mentor led to lifelong relationships with his players and their parents. Tommy was more than a coach to his kids, he was a loyal, caring, and compassionate friend.

Tommy and his wife Mandy loved to travel. Many of their adventures came as a result of his days coaching high school athletics. As these young athletes graduated high school and went on to play in college, Tommy and Mandy would travel regularly to watch them compete. No matter the location or how long the drive, Tommy and Mandy would go just about anywhere to see their “boys”.

Tommy loved all sports and being on the golf course. But given a choice, Tommy loved spending time with family and friends more than anything. He adored his wife and best friend Mandy. Their love and affection for one another was clear to everyone that encountered them. Friendship with Tommy came easy. Jovial, funny, and easy to get along with, Tommy made friends fast.

Tommy’s good-natured character is what made him a successful outside sales representative at Ingersoll Cutting Tools for over a decade. His ability to build trust and develop long-lasting relationships made it easy for Tommy to thrive in and outside of the corporate world.

Tommy will be missed, but his memory and spirit will last forever in each person that he met. We will say goodbye to Tommy and celebrate his life this Sunday and Monday.

Calling hours will be held from 2PM to 6PM on Sunday, December 29th at the New Life Community Church located at 9955 Mt. Gilead Road in Fredericktown, Ohio.
