Richard Evans Obituary

Age 76, of Marengo died Fri. April 7, 2006 at his home. He was born July 13, 1929 in Columbus to the late Mostyn and Phillippina ( Reichert ) Evans.

Richard was a graduate of Linden-McKinley H.S. and worked for VanBolt-Kreber as an electrotyper and stereotyper. He then moved to Des Moines, IA. and worked for Meredith Publishing for 8 years before returning to Marengo and the family farm where he retired from farming and Riverside Dairy.

Richard was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church and had been a scoutmaster at Oakwood U.M. Church. He was a charter member and the first Sunday School Superintendent of Maize Manor U.M. Church.

On July 26, 1948 in Greenup, KY. Richard married the former J. Marlene Bundy and she survives. Also surviving are children; Cheryl (Mauri) Jason and Mary (Steve) Fuller all of Mt. Gilead, Clair (Jill) Evans of Tampa, FL. and Jonathan (Angie) Evans of Mt. Gilead; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Jeanie (David) Styer, and their children, Hayden and Darren; Justin (Nikki) Jason; Steve (Anissa) Fuller and their children, Michael and Cade; Brooke (Jonathan) Hartman; Timothy Fuller; David Fuller; Cody Evans and Cheyene Evans.

Richard was preceded in death by a son, Clymos C. Evans, and a sister, Joan L. Hummel.

Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at GOMPF FUNERAL HOME , 440 S. Center St., in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Wednesday in the Marengo United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Beverly Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Columbus.
