Johnny R. Wilburn, age 70 of Cardington, died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1947 in Princeton, Indiana to the late John P. and Joyce R. (Hockman) Wilburn. John was a 1966 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School. After high school he went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. John spent most of his life working as an inspector for Eaton Corporation. On February 10, 1968 in Mt. Gilead John married Delana (Meadows) and she survives in Cardington. John was a member of the American Legion Jenkins Vaughn Post #97. In addition to his wife, John is survived by 2 daughters: Lisa (Brian Winchell) Morlan of Cardington and Teresa (Jim) Phillips of Howard; 2 siblings: Mike (Marge) Coulter and Debbie (Russ) Dornon both of Cardington; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Morlan and father, Dusty Coulter. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the funeral home at 1:00 pm with Reverend Karl Stonebraker officiating. Following the service, the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery with full military honors.
