Age 74, of Township Road 213, Marengo, died Tuesday evening, June 13, 2006 at Marion General Hospital. He was born July 22, 1931 in Logan, Ohio to the late Willis and Cecile Conkle.
James had served in the US Army in Korea and was retired after working 32 years as a foreman at Timken.
On September 18, 1987 he married the former Lilly Moore and she survives in Marengo.
Additional survivors include 3 children, James and Lori Conkle, Jr. of Gahanna, Mark and Vickie Conkle of Galena, Margie of Canal Winchester; and 4 step-children, Eric and Cora Schirtzinger of Cardington, Kevin Schirtzinger and Anita Smithfield both of Marengo, and Scott Hines of Johnsville; 23 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Frank and Joann Conkle of Logan and a sister, Blanche Riddlebarger of Morristown, TN.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, 2 sisters, Pauline and Mable.
Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home on Friday, June 16th from 6:00-8:00PM where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00AM. Brett Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
