James Caudill Obituary

James A. Caudill, age 81 of Columbus died Thursday morning, May 9, 2018 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1937 to the late Harlan and Mattie (Hammet) Caudill. James graduated from Dilce-Combs High School in the Class of 1959. He served honorable in the United States Airforce. James drove a bread truck for Nickels Bakery, was a Cab Driver, and worked in construction. He helped build Polaris and Riverside Hospital. James was a member of the Columbus American Legion Post # 144. James liked to fish, always had a garden (liked his tomatoes), converted an old bread truck into a camper and took his family camping. He enjoyed Old Country Music and watching Western. He loved the Cleveland Browns. James was a family man. James is survived by his children: Debbie (Joe) Curren of Daytona Beach, FL, Jim Caudill of Waldo, Tammy (Terry) Roush of Waldo, Amy (Les) Cumbo of Cardington, Paula Caudill and Tina Caudill both of Waldo; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrel (Connie) Caudill of Viper, KY and sisters, Jo (Danny) Vermillion of Ashley, and Patty (Douglas) Baron of Johnsville. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Astor, Charlie, and Steve Caudill, sister, Maereen Caudill and former wife Shirley Hall. Friends may call on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm. Following the service the burial will take place in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Marengo, OH with full military honors.
