George A. Sparks, age 78 of Cardington died Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 at Bennington Glen Nursing Center. He was born on March 24, 1940 to the late Samuel and Juanita (Puesey) Sparks. George worked in bridge construction and was a member of the Laborers Union. He loved to golf and watching sports in general. George is survived by his children: Angela Sparks of Mt. Gilead, Stephen Sparks of Galion, Jason (Brandy Carson) Sparks of Mt. Vernon, and Melinda (Travis) Crislip-Rine of Alliance; 10 grandchildren: George and Katie Sparks, Taylor Parish, Jaelyn, Breanna, and McKayla Sparks, Tyler and Josh Mcilvian, Katrina Rine, Noah, Ashley and Garrett Crislip; and great-grandson, Zane Boos. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, Dan Crislip and 3 brothers, Dwight, Ronald, and Marvin Sparks. Friends may call on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington.
