George Milo Shaffer, age 78 of Cardington died Tuesday evening, March 27, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 10, 1939 to Milo and Alda (McPeek) Shaffer. George worked for Whirlpool for 30+ years. He graduated from Cardington High School in the Class of 1957. George was an OSU Fan. He enjoyed watching the Cardington Pirates sport teams. He loved being outdoors and taking country rides. George enjoyed playing cards especially Euchre. He always had a warm smile and a helping hand. On June 15, 1962 George married his sweetheart, Ellen Foust in Cardington. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2015. George is survived by his three children: Melody (Bobby McHugh) Shaffer of Mt. Gilead, Lori (John) Cardiff of Cardington, and James (Joy Bressler) Shaffer of Lewis Center; one granddaughter, Debra Underwood and three great-grandchildren, Warren, Brayden, and Dakota Millington; siblings: Barb Etgen of Ashley, Bill (Ann) Shaffer of Prospect, Susie Parsons of Marion, and Mary Morrow of Texas. In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Underwood; 2 brothers, Earl and Robert Shaffer; and a sister, Phylllis Stover. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Hospice of Morrow County for the loving care that they gave to George. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Glendale Union Cemetery with Pastor Donald Lockwood officiating.
