Ellet Adkins

Ellet Adkins, age 74 of Cardington passed away December 27, 2018 at Marion General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Marengo on June 19, 1944 to the late Emmett and Ina (Phelps) Adkins.

Ellet was a 1962 graduate of Marengo High School. He worked at Peabody as a Maintenance man and Machinist for many years.  Ellet enjoyed doing anything that involved being outdoors; hunting, fishing, mushroom, ginseng, and arrowhead hunting. He had a passion for The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Ellet rarely missed any of his grandchildren’s sporting events or activities. Above all, Ellet’s greatest passion in life was his family.

On February 17, 1964, Ellet married Betty (Beveridge) in Fargo, Ohio. Betty survives in Cardington.

In addition to his loving wife, Ellet is survived by 3 children; David (Barbara) Adkins of Marengo, Scott (Michele) Adkins of Marengo and Cheryl (Scott) Levering of Cardington; 11 siblings; Ruth Pukansky of Marengo, Emmett Adkins Jr. of Marengo, Betty Stephens of Marengo, Dorothy Coleman of Marengo, Enoch Adkins of Marengo, Eloise (Chuck) Freeman of Marengo, Laura Mailey of Marengo, Mary (Jerry) Fouts of Delaware, Joney (Cindy) Adkins of Chesterville, Joyce (Dick) Wertz of Marengo, and Jimmy (Sharon) Adkins of Marengo; 4 Grandchildren; Brittany (Collin) Alwood, David (Ashleigh) Adkins, Garrett Boller and Jordan Adkins and 6 Great-Grandchildren; Brayden, Grace, Taylinn, Alyvia, Abigail, and McKynna.

In addition to his parents, Ellet was preceded in death by 4 siblings; Frank Adkins, Genie Adkins, Hester Addison, and Ernie Adkins.

Friends may call Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at Gompf Funeral Home; 440 Center St. Cardington, Ohio 43315. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 31, 2018 at the funeral home at 10:30am with Pastor Lucian Baker officiating. Following the service, burial will take place in Glendale Cemetery.
