Eleanor Smith Obituary

Eleanor A. Smith, age 97 of Cardington died Friday morning, June 15, 2018 at the Sarah Moore Home. She was born on May 11, 1921 to the late David and Jane (Janc) Wells. Eleanor had been the Morrow County Recorder for 24 years. She had also worked for the R B Powers Ribbon Company in Ashley for 15 years and the Green Gables Restaurant for about 16 years. Eleanor was very active in the Democratic party both at the local and state level, Business & Professional Women, was involved with the Morrow County Fair and Jr. Fair Activities, and volunteered at the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Hospice of Morrow County. On September 14, 1940 Eleanor married Luther Thurman Smith in Greenup, KY, and he preceded her in death. Eleanor is survived by a son, Donald (Maxine) Smith of Lima and a daughter-in-law, Joan Smith of Cardington; 4 grandchildren: Ron (Holly) Smith of Georgia, Robert (Sara) Smith of Toledo, Tracy (Jodi) of Marion and Clint (Angie) Smith of Marion; and 11 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Kierstyn, Kaylie, Zoe, Samantha, Anna, Ben, Taryn, Tori, Abigail and Isabella. In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by a son, James Smith A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Glendale Cemetery at 11:00 am with Dr. Steven Dennis officiating.
