Doris E. Kirk

Doris E. Kirk, age 96, who resided at Kingston in Marion, formerly of Prospect and Cardington died Friday evening July 13, 2018 in Marion General Hospital. She was born Oct. 1, 1921 to the late David A. and Henrietta (Beckel) Kramer.

Doris was a 1939 graduate of Cardington High School and had worked at North Electric in Galion. She was a member of Peace Community United Church of Christ, Marion Senior Center, VFW #7201, American Legion Post #584, Fraternal Order of Eagles #337, and Moose Lodge #448. Doris loved to keep herself busy painting, completing puzzles and word searches, playing cards and dancing. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, boating and fishing.

Doris married Delmar Dixon in 1939. After Delmar's death she married John M. Kirk in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Doris is survived by her children; Marcella (George) Disterdick of Delaware, Dale (Donna) Dixon of Cardington, and John Stephen (Patty) Kirk of Cardington; grandchildren, Mark (Jan) Disterdick, Kim (David) Stark, Forrest Disterdick, Kyle (Kelly) Kirk and Kory (Char) Kirk and 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Doris was preceded in death by two sons, David and Dean Kirk; siblings, Viola Betts, Vesta Ruth, and Harold and Lester Kramer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Gompf Funeral Home; 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:00am at Peace Community United Church of Christ; 4061 Columbus Sandusky Road South, Marion, OH. 43302. Pastor Joel Fetter will be officiating, following the service burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery.
