Donald L. Yake, age 84, of Cardington died Friday evening Aug. 24, 2018 in Wahiawa, HI. He was born June 21, 1934 in Waldo to the late David F. and Minna (Mochel) Yake.
Donald was a 1954 graduate of Waldo High School and then served in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong farmer and was retired from the Whirlpool Corp. Donald was also a long-time member of the Marionaires, enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved going to basketball games.
On Aug. 24, 1963, Donald Married the former Esther Himler and she survives in Cardington. He is also survived by his children; Brian and Renee Yake, Matthew and Michelle Yake, and Mark Yake and Scott Carsner; 3 siblings, Richard Yake of Marion, Luella Thomas of Cardington and Marilyn (Don) Wertz of Marion; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Christine M. Barnes and 3 siblings, George, Robert & Clarence Yake.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church; 336 W. Main St. in Cardington with Pastor Harold Ruth officiating. The burial will take place in the St. John’s Lutheran Windfall Cemetery.
