Carl L. Davis Sr

February 28, 1926 ~ December 3, 2008 (age 82)

Age 80, of East Main Street, Cardington, died Friday afternoon June 23, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1926 in Marion, Ohio to the Late Lloyd and Mabel (Ealy) Davis.

On October 5, 1947 at the Cardington First United Methodist Church he married the former Dorene E. Nulk and she survives in Cardington.

Carl was a 1945 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Cardington First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge # 206, Order of the Eastern Stars and the American Legion Jenkins-Vaughan Post 97. Carl enjoyed Bowling, Golf, Cruises, the Civil War and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. Carl Retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation after 33 years of employment.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his three sons; Carl and Judy Davis Jr. of Kennesaw, Georgia, Ron and Kathy Davis of Massillon and Steve Davis of Columbus; four grandchildren Ben and Amy Davis, Chad and Kelly Mefford, Tyler and Shelly Davis and Ashley Davis; five great-grandchildren; three sisters Pauline Cotsmire of Galion, Gloria Breece of Marion, Nancy and Maynard Levings of Cardington; and one brother Roger and Mary Paul Davis of Orlando Florida.

In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by two brothers Warren and Herman Davis and one sister Helen Hollandsworth.

Friends may call Sunday June 25, 2006 from 2-7 PM at Gompf Funeral Service in Cardington where Masonic Services will be held at 7 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday June 26, 2006 at 11AM at the Cardington First United Methodist Church. Pastor John Jackson will officiate and burial will follow at Glendale Union Cemetery with full military honors.
