Melissa Eileen (Tennar) Pickens

Melissa "Missy" E. Pickens, age 61 of Cardington passed away Monday March 25, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 4, 1962, in Marion, to the late John and Willa (Brokaw) Tennar.

Missy was the Head Custodian at Alcott School in Westerville City. She really enjoyed her time getting to know and interacting with the students. Missy had a love for gardening, baking and animals, especially horses. Missy enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and camping. She cherished her family and spending time with them was what she loved most of all.

Missy is survived by husband George Murdoch, her daughters: Jennifer French of Mansfield, Amanda Pickens of Ashley, Samantha Wheeler of Grand Rapids, MI., and her stepdaughter Sarah Murdoch of Richwood; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, as well as her brother Robert Landon of Marion and two sisters: Cyndi Garver of TN., and Calina Barry of Galion.

In addition to her parents, Missy was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Steven Adams officiating.
