Harry Lawrence George

Harry L. George, age 74 of Cardington passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1949, in Columbus to the late Lawrence R. George and Marion M. (Merk) Jeffords.

Harry graduated from Mifflin High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He then went to work as a carman for Conrail until his retirement.

Harry enjoyed karate, hunting, fishing, and archery at the Handlebar Ranch. He was an avid dog lover and had a special place in his heart for American Pit Bull Terriers.

Harry is survived by his partner Teresa Swango his children Kevin George and Cari (Tammy Ecker) Snyder and his bonus kids Michelle (Rick) Collins and Kevin Collins; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his siblings: Jean George, Terry (Jeffords) Black, and Patricia (George) Longbrake.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his sister Berniece and his brother Glenn.

Friends may call on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will directly follow at 6:00 PM with Chad Richards officiating. The burial will take place in the Forest Grove Cemetery at a later date.
