Harold Allen Furbay died January 4, 2024, at the Woodside Village Care Center in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. He was born Jan. 6, 1925, and lived on the farm that has been in the family for five generations.
He is predeceased by his father Walter R. Furbay, his mother Leta Young Furbay and his brother Walter M. Furbay.
Harold was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School and attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio, but returned home to manage the family farm. He took great interest in people and loved to talk to them. He was a birthright Quaker and a devout Christian. He was a member of the Gilead Friends Church and Mansfield Friends Church and was active in music ministry, he had a wonderful singing voice. He also served as a Gideon.
Harold is survived by his sister, Esther Hudnell, 2 nieces, Rebecca Spalla of Spring Grove, Pa., Ginny Mortorff of York Springs, Pa and two nephews David Hudnell (Tori) of West Henrietta, N.Y. and Dennis Hudnell (Pauletta) of Iberia, Oh.
The family would like to thank Zach Robinson for the friendship and help he has given Harold over the years as well as Jim Meimer who farmed the land for the last number of years.
A visitation will be held at the Woodside Village Care Center meeting room on Saturday February 17 from 1-3 p.m.
